A satellite event of the European Conference on Complex Systems ECCS’12, 3-7 September 2012 in Brussels. The satellite also serves as plenary workshop for the ERA Complexity-NET project “Complex Matter”.

The talks describe recent research and new challenges in the field of Critical Phenomena and Collective Behavior of Multi-Particle Systems, where the term “particles” is interpreted in the broadest sense of the word, to include granular particles, vehicles, flocking birds, and many other examples of interest. Experimental, theoretical, and numerical contributions appear side by side.
